French toast is a classic breakfast dish that has been around for centuries. It is believed to have originated in France, where it was known as pain perdu, or 'lost bread'. This dish is made from stale bread, which is soaked in a mixture of eggs, milk, and sugar before being fried in butter or oil. The result is a golden-brown, crispy exterior and a soft, custardy interior. French toast can be served with a variety of toppings, from fresh fruit to syrup and powdered sugar. It is a delicious way to start the day!
